Jon Bernthal’s Punisher could be heading into an unexpected fight in Marvel’s VisionQuest. The Disney+ series will continue Vision’s story while exploring further connections to the MCU. The reported showdown could also strengthen the ties between Marvel’s street-level heroes and its wider superhero universe.
Insider MyTimeToShineHello teased the confrontation on X in response to a post about a Punisher reference in VisionQuest. The insider replied, “They will fight,” suggesting that Frank Castle will face Paladin in the series. Marvel has not officially confirmed the reported showdown.
VisionQuest has more surprises in store for Marvel fans
The speculation about the fight comes from a line in VisionQuest where Paladin refers to a past fight as “just a punishing disagreement with an old friend.” The line appears to hint at a previous encounter with Castle. However, the series has yet to explain the reference or confirm its significance.
Paladin is a mercenary and bounty hunter in Marvel Comics who has crossed paths with several heroes, including Daredevil. His work often puts him in conflict with other skilled fighters, making a potential encounter with the Punisher a fitting development. Castle’s military background, tactical skills, and willingness to use lethal force could make the fight particularly dangerous.
Bernthal has played Frank Castle across multiple Marvel projects, beginning with Netflix’s Daredevil and continuing with The Punisher. He has since returned to the MCU, with his latest appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day bringing the character into Spider-Man’s world.
Meanwhile, VisionQuest picks up Vision’s story after the events of WandaVision. The series also explores the MCU’s history with artificial intelligence, including the technology developed by Tony Stark in Iron Man. These connections tie the show to earlier Marvel stories while further exploring Vision’s role in the franchise.
If the reported fight happens, it could further connect VisionQuest to Marvel’s street-level heroes and the wider MCU. However, fans will have to wait for official confirmation to learn whether the Punisher will appear and how his potential clash with Paladin ties into Vision’s story.
