Steven Yeun is set to lead a new Netflix horror show from RoboCop writer Joshua Zetumer. The actor will star in and executive produce Pagans, a story centered on a troubled father-daughter relationship.
Yeun will play Gus, a single father raising two children after his wife’s death. The official logline says, “Pagans follows a man who becomes the sole caretaker of his two children after the tragic loss of his wife. While his son is typical, his daughter, Alice, is anything but. What starts as a strained father-daughter relationship soon evolves into something far more sinister. Equal parts emotional, horrifying, and humorous, Pagans is a show that unearths all our darkest thoughts about family.”
Netflix ordered the project straight to series after winning it in an auction.
The cast, creative team & talent behind Netflix’s Pagans
Steven Yeun will executive produce the series through Celadon Pictures alongside Christina Oh. Additional executive producers include Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg for Goddard Textiles, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, and Zetumer.
Zetumer serves as showrunner and head writer. His writing credits include the 2014 RoboCop reboot, Patriots Day, and FX’s critically acclaimed limited series Say Nothing, which earned him an Emmy nomination.
Yeun brings an extensive background across film and television to the production. He previously starred in and executive produced Netflix’s hit limited series Beef alongside Ali Wong, earning an Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and SAG Award for his performance.
He appeared in Minari, Nope, Burning, Sorry to Bother You, and Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17. Yeun also earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for Minari, portraying Jacob, a father navigating rural Arkansas in the 1980s.
Netflix has not yet announced an official production timeline or release date for Pagans. As of now, the show gives Steven Yeun another chance to work with Netflix following the success of Beef.
