Ezra Sosa Blasts DWTS Favoritism for Robbing Overlooked Pros: ‘They Deserve It’

Ezra Sosa wants more Dancing With the Stars pros to get a real shot at the finale. The 25-year-old dancer shared his hopes for the upcoming season during the DWTS Convention in Palm Springs. He specifically named Pasha Pashkov and Britt Stewart as pros he wants to see in the finale. Sosa also recently sparked debate over how the show pairs celebrities with professional dancers.

Ezra Sosa shaded Dancing With the Stars for repeatedly handing front-runners to the same pros

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE on July 31, Sosa said he wants Pasha and Britt to reach the finale. “There’s so many people that haven’t gotten the chance to be in the finale,” he said. For Sosa, giving those pros a spot with a front-runner would let them show what they can do. He hopes they “truly shine as a pro,” he said.

Weeks earlier, Sosa posted a TikTok about DWTS pairings, though he later deleted the video. According to Sosa, there is no “good or a bad partner” because every celebrity pairs with a professional for a reason. He believes the focus should remain on giving the celebrity “the best experience ever.” This season, he also wants pros without front-runners to get that opportunity.

“I want to see them shine,” Sosa said in the video. “I want to see them have that glorious moment. I want to see them in the finale. I want to see them with the mirrorball because they deserve it.” He added that seeing some new pros in the finals would be refreshing. Sosa explained that a freestyle shows a pro’s “true creative capability.”

Sosa said he does not need the best partner for himself because he already had that with Jordan Chiles. At the DWTS Convention, executive producers Deena Katz and Conrad Green explained how they handle pairings. Katz noted that fans want to see pros work with different stars. Meanwhile, Green said producers evaluate the pairings during the first rehearsal. Season 35 will have a “bigger” cast, with the full list coming Sept. 3 on Good Morning America.
