FX has announced the release date for The Lowdown Season 2 along with new plot details. The sophomore season of the neo-noir crime comedy returns, with Ethan Hawke’s Lee Raybon, the “truthstorian,” gearing up for a new adventure.
The Lowdown Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, October 14, on FX and Hulu. According to the official synopsis, this season will see Raybon joining hands with a public defender on a case as he navigates personal struggles.
Betty Gilpin, Tommy Lee Jones, and Austin Amelio have joined The Lowdown’s cast for season 2. Returning cast members include Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kaniehtiio Horn, Rafael Casal, and Keith David.
Ethan Hawke’s Lee Raybon teams up with Betty Gilpin for the new investigation
The second season of The Lowdown will see Lee Raybon, played by Ethan Hawke, get on another thrilling case. According to newly released plot details, this season will see Raybon team up with public defender Ginger (Gilpin), another truth seeker such as himself. Raybon helps Ginger investigate a case in which one of her clients went missing from the state penitentiary.
Raybon is instantly fascinated by the case, which appears to offer everything that he is looking for. He deems it the perfect story for The Heartland Press, where David’s Marty is now the managing editor.
To help him with the case, Raybon recruits Johnny (Rafael Casal), a jujitsu-trained dentist and also the husband of his ex, Samantha (Kaniehtiio Horn). Meanwhile, things get even more complicated when Raybon’s estranged father, Lee Raybon Senior, played by Tommy Lee Jones, returns to town unexpectedly.
While FX has yet to greenlight The Lowdown for a third season, the show’s creator, Sterlin Harjo, has shared that he has planned for “many seasons.” Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter shortly after the Season 1 finale, he said, “I have ideas.” Harjo added, “I was telling somebody, The Rockford Files did it every episode. We could do every season.”
