Kevin Spacey believes public perception toward him has shifted since his career fallout after 2017. The Hollywood actor was accused of sexual misconduct nine years ago. He eventually faced trials and ultimately wasn’t found guilty.
What did Kevin Spacey say about his career?
Kevin Spacey managed to win the sexual assault lawsuit that he was involved in. But his career went on a downward trajectory due to various allegations. Netflix removed him from the last season of House of Cards. Plus, a movie featuring Spacey, titled Gore, was also canceled.
Now, Spacey thinks his career is moving in a positive direction, one he hoped for. In recent times, he’s been getting new offers as well. Last month, it was revealed that he was cast in an upcoming WWII drama movie, titled Melodies in the Forest.
In a recent conversation with Bill Maher on the Club Random Podcasts, Spacey finally opened up about how he feels after struggling to find work for the past nine years. He revealed that he now feels “less in jail” at this point, while indicating how the public perception about him has changed.
“When people actually start to hear the facts, understand what we won in courts, I think people now look at this and think, ‘Maybe nine years has been enough.’ I feel much more welcomed, and I think that things are moving in the direction that we hoped they were moving in.”
Now that he’s left the past behind him, the two-time Oscar winner is focusing on some good and big assignments. Surprisingly, a popular director had recently expressed his wish to work alongside Spacey.

During a media interaction, Uwe Boll, the director of the upcoming Armie Hammer movie, Citizen Vigilante, said that he wants to recruit Spacey in a future project. “One of the best actors working today. I’d love to cast him in a strong male lead in one of my pictures,” he said. However, he also admitted that doing so could come with inevitable repercussions.
“I can guarantee that the film would not get an American distributor. To me, that’s unfair. He won all the lawsuits and legal cases, and now he’s stuck in these very cheap exotic movies he’s making now.”
