GTA V Mod Adds First Person View, Shows Huge Potential for Virtual Reality

YouTube user XBLToothPik has developed a mod for Grand Theft Auto V which adds first-person view support to the game. Surprisingly, the game’s animations and camera movement work remarkably well with the mod, creating an immersive experience in what is arguably the largest, most fully realized world in video game history.

Seen in the video below, this mod was crafted on a modded Xbox 360, which is quite difficult to work with. Although it’s unlikely that Rockstar will add a first-person view in a future update, it’s safe to say that GTA V‘s upcoming PC version should have a similar mod created in no time at all. With better visuals, it’ll be even better than what’s seen here.

A similar mod was developed earlier in the year which added a first-person view while inside vehicles. In tandem with an on-foot first-person view, Los Santos could be brought to life in a substantial way. After watching the video, I can’t help but wonder what it’d be like to play GTA V in first-person with Oculus Rift of Project Morpheus would be like. Experiencing its crazy citizens, and wild missions from the viewpoint of its three main characters would be one hell of a ride.
