Lionel Messi’s Time with Barcelona “Coming to an End,” says Luis Suarez

Lionel Messi’s time at Barcelona could be coming to an end, according to 79-year-old club legend Luis Suarez.

Suarez, not to be confused with the current Barcelona star of the same name, said that a “stratospheric offer” from another club could lead to Messi’s departure. This news comes after football pundit and journalist Guillem Balague said that Messi has “never been closer” to leaving the La Liga club, with tensions between the Argentinian striker and coach Luis Enrique reportedly escalating.

Messi has fallen out with Enrique along with club president Josep Bartomeu, with many speculating that the clash is due to him having concerns over his future with the club.

Suarez said: “I think Messi is still happy at Barcelona because the club has helped him a lot. They have been very supportive ever since he was a kid. But he might start to have doubts if a stratospheric offer were to come in. And you have to be careful when a player starts to gets doubts. It could be that Messi’s era at Barcelona is nearing an end.

“Barcelona did not perform as we have come to expect from them last season and people might start having doubts if another season like that happens.

“Things have been said that would never have been said before. It’s still early, though, and you have to give all this some time.”

Luis Enrique has been silent over his butting of heads with the 27-year-old, though this news will no doubt see many clubs approaching Barcelona with an offer. Whether or not they accept it is another matter altogether.
