LeBron James Reportedly Opting Out Of Heat Contract

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, has informed the Miami Heat that James will exercise his early termination option on his current contract and become a free agent on July 1.

So here we go again! ‘The Decision Part II,’ right?

Not so fast.

Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony just opted to become a free agent. If reports are true that Miami’s ‘Big 3′ wants to lure Anthony to South Beach, James’ move could be the first of many to make room in cap space for the franchise in order to sign him. Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade would need to become free agents as well in order to re-work their current contract, essentially taking less money to make room for another star like Anthony.

This could also mean that James is prepping to test the waters of free agency, possibly reconsidering moving back to Cleveland. Could.

James’ wife created a big stir over the weekend after posting an Instagram picture of their hometown of Akron, Ohio with a caption that read “Home sweet home!! The countdown is real! #330.” Akron of course is very close to Cleveland, where LeBron spent the first seven years of his career.

James has four MVPs on his resume and has been to the NBA Finals four years in a row — all with the Heat, winning twice. Many, including myself, find it very doubtful he would leave South Beach. However, just for fun, this guy decided to make a graphic of what James would look like in every NBA uniform..
