Derek Jeter’s All-Time Greatest Moments

He hit his first career home run on Opening Day 1996 in his first season.

He passed Lou Gehrig for first place on the all-time Yankees hit list.

He has 3,000 career hits.

2014 will be his 20th season, which is two more than Mantle, and one more than both Rivera and Berra…

Just a few facts to sum up Derek Jeter — without a doubt the greatest shortstop of this generation.

Jeter announced on his Facebook February that 2014 will be his last season as a professional ball player. Considering 2013 was in injury plagued year for the future Hall-of-Famer, this news doesn’t come as a shock to many.

Although we’re witnessing the twilight of his career, we want to look back and remember what made Jeets! so great. Because when you break it down, there are always a few select moments that first come to mind when we think of a past star. Below are Jeter’s:

Game 5 2001 ALDS – Dives in crowd catching a foul ball

We’ll always remember the hustle.

2001 World Series, Game 4 – 10th inning walk off HR vs. D’Backs. Mr. November

Being clutch. Being “Mr. November.”

2001 ALDS, Game 3 vs A’s – “The Toss” to tag out Giambi at home

And possibly the most clutch, improvised defensive play in playoff history.
