Carrie Coon Says Taylor Swift Is ‘So Bertha’ After Viral Impression

Carrie Coon has reportedly approved of Taylor Swift‘s impression of her “The Gilded Age” character. Jimmy Fallon played a clip of the singer’s take on Bertha Russell during Coon’s visit, with the latter calling Swift’s imitation “so Bertha.” The actress seemingly hadn’t seen it until her phone filled with messages. However, she also has a role in mind for Swift on the show.

Carrie Coon recently reacted to Taylor Swift’s Bertha Russell impression on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” According to the late night show’s post on X, Fallon played a clip of Swift’s impression. In it, the singer joked about “The Gilded Age” and said, “It was the year of aggressively colorful skinny jeans. Everyone wa swalking around saying things were amazeballs. Mrs. Astor hated it.”

The clip reportedly drew more than 59.7K views. Coon played Bertha, the matriarch of the Russell family. “The White Lotus” star reportedly said that she didn’t see the impression that night. Later, she woke up to thousands of text and Instagram messages asking if she could believe it.

“It’s very good,” she said. Coon also called it “the right affectation.” Furthermore, she described Bertha as an entrepreneur. She said that Bertha would be like Swift if she were living today. She added that this might not apply to “the singing bit.”

Fallon then asked if Swift would go on the show. “I think she should,” Coon said. She added that Swift would be an “excellent nemesis.” She also joked that Swift could even be a best friend who helps her defeat Enid Winterton. Coon called Swift “really great.”

Meanwhile, Coon seemingly made a similar pitch earlier. At an event for the show, she told Extra the impression “on point.” She also said the cast would answer if Swift called, suggesting a Bertha-adjacent socialite role. Cynthia Nixon also suggested that Swift could appear as a singer at Oscar and Enid’s new salons.

For context, no casting has been confirmed, and season four of “The Gilded Age” premiered on November 1.
