Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s Hollywood plans might be on hold. According to sources, their Netflix film projects haven’t shown any clear progress since March. However, another source claimed that this is standard practice in the industry. Meanwhile, their production company has reportedly lost another executive.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Hollywood projects reportedly remain without any progress
Sources told Page Six that the Sussexes’ Netflix films, “Meet Me at the Lake” and “The Wedding Date,” remain in development. The first is based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling book. It has reportedly been in development since August 2023, and it’s believed to have an attached director whose identity remains under wraps. “The Wedding Date,” based on Jasmine Guillory’s novel, has been in development since 2025.
However, a second source called it simply how Hollywood works. “Things are not made in a day,” the industry insider said. They explained that adaptations take a while, especially as producers work with the book writers on the script.
The couple’s untitled scripted polo drama also hasn’t received any update. Harry is reportedly working on a documentary about Princess Diana ahead of her 30th death anniversary. Netflix’s potential involvement in the film currently remains unclear.
Meanwhile, Archewell Productions’ longtime head of nonfiction, Chanel Pysnik, is reportedly leaving. She helmed the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan.” Page Six was told that she wanted a “new chapter.” Following her exit, Nishika Kumble, senior vice president of scripted television, remains a key executive in the company. The outlet reported last month that Archewell Productions was downsizing.
Furthermore, Netflix recently fired content chief Bela Bajaria and film boss Dan Lin, with Peter Rice taking over content operations. Rice’s equation with the Sussexes reportedly remains unknown. However, a source claimed that Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos is “100 percent behind them.” In March, Netflix reportedly cut ties with Meghan’s As Ever brand and canceled “With Love, Meghan” after two seasons.
