Adam Sandler’s Divisive Horror Comedy Is Suddenly Dominating on Streaming

Adam Sandler’s most divisive Halloween movie just proved all of its haters wrong six years after its release. The 2020 horror comedy climbed back into Netflix’s top 3 movies as viewers revisited it during the Halloween weekend festivities.

Hubie Halloween gets discovered and revisited on Netflix

Adam Sandler’s Hubie Halloween climbed back into Netflix’s top 3 movies in the United States this weekend. FlixPatrol data for November 1, 2026, shows the 2020 comedy landed at No. 3 on the platform’s most-watched movies list. The surge largely comes as viewers sought out Halloween-themed content during the holiday festivities.

Notably, the film jumped two spots from its previous position to reach the No. 3 ranking. It sat behind Collision Course at No. 1 and Don’t Trust the Couple Upstairs at No. 2. As a result, Hubie Halloween has now spent five days on Netflix’s top 10 movies chart during this latest run.

Steven Brill directed the horror comedy mystery, which stars Sandler alongside Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, and Steve Buscemi. The story follows a Halloween-loving deli worker who must save Salem, Massachusetts, from a kidnapper. Netflix originally released the film on October 7, 2020, as part of Sandler’s multi-film deal with the streamer.

Despite mixed reception, the movie holds a 54% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on reviews from critics. Meanwhile, on Metacritic, it carries a weighted average score of 53 out of 100. Additionally, the film dedicates itself to the memory of actor Cameron Boyce, who passed away before production began.

Hubie Halloween previously performed well during its initial release in October 2020. At the time, it topped Netflix’s most-streamed titles during its first two weeks on the platform. The film’s consistent annual resurgence around Halloween further demonstrates the lasting seasonal appeal of Sandler’s holiday-themed comedy for Netflix subscribers.
