President Donald Trump directed his fury at Fox News at a Florida rally on Friday, and the crowd responded with loud boos. The network still carried his full 90-minute speech live, including the moment conservatives turned on it.
How the president criticized Fox’s coverage of Democratic candidates
Donald Trump used his Daytona Beach rally to attack Fox News for booking Democrats ahead of the midterms. He pointed to California Rep. Ro Khanna’s appearance on Fox and Friends that morning and accused the network of favoring his opponents.
“I watched this total dope, Ro Khanna. Fox puts him on all the time. You know, Fox is giving Democrats more time than they’re giving Republicans. I don’t know what the hell is—,” Trump said, as the crowd booed. “I’m working my a– off, I’m doing rallies, and I come back and I watch the opponent of the person I did the rally for. I’m not happy.”
The president pressed the same complaint on Truth Social earlier in the week. He named Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Iowa gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand as Democrats Fox had interviewed, and he argued that Republican candidates are getting “blurred out.”
Trump wrote, “Fox News is spending far too much time putting on the OPPONENTS of Republican Party Candidates, people that love our Country, and have Great Policies and Ideas.” He further siad the network was “trying too hard to be Politically Correct.”
The feud lands as Fox reportedly heads toward its lowest-rated month since December 2023. A Fox host told CNN that the internal view is that Trump “doesn’t rate anymore,” pointing to possible Trump fatigue.
However, the outlet did not cut away from the Daytona Beach rally. Viewers saw the boos for the network firsthand, along with hecklers who interrupted Trump multiple times. The president closed by stating that Academy Award winners do not like him and telling Robert DeNiro he is not suited for comedy roles.
