Donald Trump‘s administration posted a new Halloween post on the White House’s X account, sparking online criticism. The post was another piece of AI-generated content that has frequently appeared on the Trump administration’s posts. The post drops as the President campaigns for Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections.
White House gets criticized of ‘racism’ for Halloween post
Donald Trump’s administration recently faced heavy public criticism for a Halloween post on the official White House X account.
The post, captioned “Spooky szn is here,” featured an AI-generated pumpkin with a carved sombrero. However, according to HuffPost, the image didn’t sit well with social media users who thought it seemed to refer to the sombrero AI videos the administration had previously posted to mock Democrats over immigration. A sombrero is a tall, wide hat that is worn in Mexico.
Many users chimed in the comments calling out the post, with one expressing their shock and writing, “This can’t be an official goverment account of a world super power. Can’t be.” Another user went on to comment, “Blatant racism now on this account, not even trying to hide it. Truly a low point for our country – but not for much longer. Go f**k yourself.”
A third user called out the administration, commenting, “Mexicans/Latinos make up ~40% of the entire US workforce. Mexicans/Latinos make up ~85% of the Agriculture workforce. They are working harder for our country’s success than this entire racist sack of s**t Administration could ever dream of doing.” A user slammed the government, suggesting they have ruined their reputation, and wrote, “The dumbest most cringe version of America ever imagined. Maga has destroyed the GOP.”
The Trump administration posted the photo on the official White House website after announcing on October 26 that Trump and his wife, Melania, would open the South Lawn to trick-or-treaters.
