Prince William’s Career Confession Hinted at Escape From Royal Life — Source

Prince William made a candid admission on The Graham Norton Show that has now prompted a much deeper conversation. He admitted he once pictured himself in two very different jobs. Now, sources believe that his career choices as a child reveal more about him and his royal life.

Prince William’s career confession hinted at his dream of ‘having an ordinary career,’ per source

The Prince of Wales, 44, was asked whether he had ever imagined a different career. He revealed, “I did want to be a policeman when I was younger – I thought I could make a good policeman.” Host Graham Norton quickly seized on the idea. “Well, you’re tall,” he joked. Robert Irwin, 22, another guest on the show, added, “There’s a bit more to it than that, mate.” Norton then teased, “Well, you’d look good in the uniform and the hat.”

Then came another candid admission from the prince. Prince William revealed he also had a “phase of wanting to be a DJ – which didn’t go very well.” He went on to add, “I came up with a name. I was called DJ Xara with an ‘X.’ It wasn’t good.”

Norton asked whether he ever played at school parties. “No, I didn’t, I never got that good,” the prince replied, and the studio audience laughed.

RadarOnline noted that William spoke humorously and did not suggest he had seriously considered leaving his duties. A palace source, however, told the outlet the comments carried a deeper meaning. “Most children grow up believing they can become anything they choose. William never really had that luxury, and those childhood dreams were probably his way of imagining a little freedom,” the source said.

The same source stressed that William has never publicly suggested he wants to abandon his responsibilities. “It’s possible to be deeply committed to your duty while still wondering what might have happened if you’d been free to choose another path,” the insider added.

Another royal insider described the weight of expectation placed on the prince since childhood. According to this source, “William seems perfectly comfortable with his position today, but that doesn’t mean he never wished things had been different.”

The insider continued: “His childhood ambitions are a reminder that behind the titles and royal duties is someone who once dreamed of having an ordinary career, just like everyone else.”
