Chicago Fire’s 300th episode trailer reveals how Firehouse 51 says goodbye to one of its longest-serving members. The promo teases Joe Cruz’s emotional farewell alongside a dangerous new mission for the crew.
Chicago Fire Season 15 Episode 5 promo released
NBC released the promo for Chicago Fire Season 15 Episode 5, titled “Three Hundred,” on October 29, 2026. The milestone episode marks the show’s 300th installment and airs on Wednesday, November 4, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
The promo teases a high-stakes storyline at Firehouse 51. Specifically, the logline confirms the crew responds to a complex hostage situation. Chief Tomlin also assigns Severide a task described as impossible. Meanwhile, Cruz continues to make progress after his injury from the season premiere.
Beyond the action, the episode carries significant emotional weight as it bids farewell to Joe Cruz. Actor Joe Miñoso has played the character since the show’s 2012 debut. According to Showrunner Victor Teran, the team wanted the milestone to serve as a love letter to Cruz and the actor behind him. Notably, the character has been in a wheelchair since sustaining an injury during the season premiere’s warehouse fire.
Rather than rushing Cruz’s exit, the writers chose to explore his transition away from firefighting. Reports indicate Miñoso appears in a few Season 15 episodes before departing. This approach gives the character time to wrap up his story properly. Early speculation suggests the episode may include reunions and a possible memorial scene.
Fan reaction to the promo reflects deep attachment to Cruz. Comments include tributes like “Thank you for your service, Joe” and “I love you, Cruz.” One viewer noted Cruz deserves a proper goodbye, unlike other cast members written off without farewells. The promo generated significant engagement within hours of its release.
The 300th episode also positions Chicago Fire as the longest-running live-action firefighter drama in television history by seasons. Victor Teran took over as showrunner from Andrea Newman ahead of Season 15. The previous episode, “A Perfect Arson,” airs on October 28 and sees the FBI recruit Severide for an arson investigation.
