Chris Hemsworth shares what he did on weekends as Extraction 3 filming wraps
Chris Hemsworth shared photos from his time in Thailand on X (formerly Twitter) as filming for Extraction 3 recently wrapped. The actor posted pictures of himself exploring Thai landmarks and spending time with his children during weekends off from the shoot. He credited photographer Evan Paterakis for the images.
Thailand served as the final shooting location for the Netflix sequel. Principal photography began in July 2026 across Sydney, Wollongong, and various European locations. The production was expected to wrap around early October, with Fraser Taggart serving as the cinematographer. With filming now complete, the action thriller could target a mid-2027 release window.
Sam Hargrave returns to direct the third installment from a screenplay by Joe Russo and David Weil. The film is based on the graphic novel Ciudad and continues the story of Tyler Rake, a former Australian special forces operator turned mercenary. Golshifteh Farahani and Idris Elba reprise their roles from the previous films, while Don Lee, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, Siena Agudong, and Pierce Brosnan join the cast.
Joe Russo first confirmed the sequel’s development in April 2024. Hemsworth noted at the time that the writing process was moving smoothly. He wanted to make sure the story justified following up the first two films. The rest of the cast was officially announced in August 2026, with Brosnan’s addition generating significant attention.
The Extraction franchise has become one of Netflix’s most successful action properties. Hemsworth produces alongside the Russo Brothers through their AGBO banner. Wild State and T.G.I.M. Films also serve as production companies on the project.
