After Gundam, Sydney Sweeney is reportedly lining up yet another project at Sony with a familiar Marvel writer. A new report reveals the actress has a secret film in development that adds to her already packed slate.
Sydney Sweeney has a new movie in works from Sony
Sydney Sweeney is developing a new untitled film at Sony, according to industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello. Annie Hamilton is co-writing the project with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Details about the film’s plot and genre remain under wraps at this stage.
Robinson previously co-wrote Thor: Love and Thunder with director Taika Waititi for Marvel Studios. She also wrote and directed the 2022 Netflix comedy Do Revenge. Hamilton, meanwhile, has credits as a writer and director on several independent projects.
Sweeney already has a strong relationship with Sony Pictures. She executive produced and starred in the 2023 romantic comedy Anyone but You, which grossed over $220 million worldwide. She also appeared in Sony’s 2024 superhero film Madame Web. In June 2026, Sweeney and producer Kaylee McGregor launched the production company Honey Trap. The company signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures to develop and produce multiple projects.
Sweeney currently has several films in various stages of production. She will reprise her role as Millie in The Housemaid’s Secret, the sequel to the 2025 box office hit. The Custom of the Country, written and directed by Josie Rourke, is in post-production. She is also filming the live-action Gundam adaptation for Netflix alongside Noah Centineo. Additionally, Sweeney is attached to star in Scandalous!, directed by Colman Domingo, and Hollow, a reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
The new Sony project adds to Sweeney’s growing slate as both an actress and a producer. Her Honey Trap banner gives her a dedicated pipeline for developing material at the studio. No director, casting details, or release timeline have been announced for the untitled film yet.
