In a surprise move, Prince Harry recently appeared alongside veterans in Warwickshire. The news comes as the Duke of Sussex makes headlines for expressing his desire to reconcile with his family. Though he has stepped back from official royal duties, the event highlighted Harry’s enduring connection to the armed forces.
Prince Harry is accompanied by veterans during Warwickshire outing
Prince Harry was photographed in Warwickshire this month joining veterans for a meaningful engagement, marking a surprise Armed Forces visit in the UK. The outing, held last weekend, saw Harry step out in support of the Armed Forces community on home soil.
According to the Daily Express, the Duke of Sussex attended the gathering on October 17 alongside members of Easy Company, 3 Para Battlegroup and the Royal Irish Regiment, coming together to commemorate 20 years since their extraction from Helmand Province and to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. Having served in the Armed Forces as a young man, the 42-year-old marked the occasion in a sharp suit and tie.
As for the delayed coverage, the visit was kept out of the public eye. Once images from the day surfaced online, supporters widely praised Harry for attending such a significant ceremony.
For the unversed, Prince Harry served in the British Army for a decade, from 2005 to 2015. He started his military career with officer training at Sandhurst in May 2005. He then joined the Blues and Royals in April 2006.
The non-working royal completed a 10-week tour in Helmand Province as a forward air controller in 2007-2008. He later returned to Afghanistan in 2012-2013 as an Apache co-pilot and gunner with the Army Air Corps. The King’s younger son finished his active duty in June 2015 after a four-week attachment with the Australian Defence Force.
However, there is no word yet on whether Prince Harry has any further military engagements lined up in the weeks ahead of Remembrance Day in November. While he holds veterans’ causes and Remembrance Day close to his heart, sources said that he will likely skip major UK events this year.
