Jenna Ortega has hinted at a big career move after her hit Netflix show “Wednesday” ends. The 24-year-old is currently busy promoting her movie, “Klara and the Sun,” based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s best-selling novel. In an interview during her press run, she made a shocking revelation about her future plans.
Jenna Ortega is looking beyond television as production wraps on ‘Wednesday’ Season 3
Jenna Ortega plans to stay off TV for a while when “Wednesday” comes to an end. On the October 22 episode of the “Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast, host Josh Horowitz asked the Gen-Z scream queen whether she would commit to another franchise. She replied, “I actually haven’t had a lot of franchise conversations. I haven’t. What I’m meant to do will come and find me.”
Expressing her desire to step away from TV roles, Ortega added, “I think after ‘Wednesday,’ I’ll probably be off the TV for a while. You know I had many years doing that. I was bounding from show to show as a kid, and I want to leave time for new things.” “Wednesday” Season 3 has wrapped production, but whether this will mark the show’s end remains unclear.
She has appeared in numerous shows over the years, from “Jane the Virgin” to Disney’s “Stuck in the Middle” and Netflix’s “You.” Her turn as the Addams family’s gothic daughter catapulted her to global stardom. Now, she is considering a change of pace once the show wraps up to explore opportunities beyond TV.
Ortega has already appeared in several films, including “Wednesday” creator Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and instalments in the “Scream” franchise. In “Klara and the Sun,” which hit theaters on October 23, she plays an Artificial Friend robot. Besides “Wednesday” Season 3, she will next appear in J. J. Abrams’ science fantasy film, “The Great Beyond.” It also stars Glen Powell, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson.
