What happens in the Hurricanna trailer?
The trailer opens with the former reality TV star posing for publicity photos as a voice-over describes her as “the queen of pop culture, the most desired woman on the planet.” Later, Smith and Howard K. Stern step out of an elevator as an announcer introduces her: “Anna Nicole Smith, ladies and gentlemen.”
Stern, Smith’s lawyer and romantic partner, encourages her to accept a paid appearance at a championship boxing match. The trailer later shows the pair at a Department of Homeland Security office, where an official asks about their occupations. “I’m a lawyer,” Stern replies. When asked about her own identity, she responds, “I am Anna Nicole Smith.”
The trailer then focuses on Smith’s declining health and prescription drug use. Her therapist arrives at Smith’s Florida hotel to help her. In one scene, Stern appears to blame the therapist for prescribing Smith’s medication, hinting at the conflict surrounding her treatment.
Sylvia Hoeks leads the cast as Smith, while Mark Duplass plays Stern. Holly Hunter portrays the therapist, and Nicholas Hamilton stars as Daniel. Kevin Sussman, Michael Nouri, and Lilly Krug also appear.
Francesca Gregorini directs the R-rated biopic, written by Rachel Sarnoff and Matt Sarnoff. Gregorini also produces the film alongside Cassian Elwes, Rory Koslow, Paul Robarts, and Alix Madigan.
Distributed by Magenta Light Studios, the 96-minute film hits theaters on January 8, 2027.
