Sean “Diddy” Combs has enlisted an unexpected intermediary in his effort to secure a presidential pardon. Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson revealed that the imprisoned music mogul asked him to deliver a letter to President Donald Trump while Combs serves his sentence.

Mike Tyson disclosed the request during an interview with Andy Cohen on Radio Andy. Their conversation also touched on Tyson’s relationship with Combs and his reaction to the case. Tyson said he remained friendly with the music executive, whom he called “Puff,” and expressed surprise at the “lengths” authorities went to pursue him.
The letter came up when Cohen asked whether Tyson and Combs had communicated since the latter entered prison. Tyson confirmed they had spoken by phone once and explained that Combs wanted him to pass a message to Trump. When Cohen pressed him on whether he had delivered it, Tyson replied, “I did what he told me to do, yes.”
The possibility of a presidential pardon remains uncertain, despite earlier reports that Combs had tried to reach Trump himself. In an interview with The New York Times earlier this year, Trump said the music mogul had sent him a handwritten appeal for clemency. Trump later told Newsmax that the request could be complicated by Combs’ criticism of him during the 2016 presidential race.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence tied to prostitution-related offenses, with March 8, 2028, listed as his expected release date unless circumstances change. A presidential pardon could provide another path to freedom, but there’s no confirmation that Trump intends to take that step.
Tyson also questioned the legal basis of the case during his conversation with Cohen, pointing to the Mann Act, a law enacted in 1910 that addresses trafficking and the transportation of women for prostitution. He described the law’s age as striking, saying authorities used a rule more than a century old to pursue Combs. “They took a 110-year-old case to get him a couple of months, a couple of years ago,” Tyson said.
