A four-part docuseries about the former professional boxer is coming to Netflix very soon. Mike Tyson recently spoke with People about the series, during which he said the negative experiences from his troubled past ultimately made him a better person.
Mike said, “Everything that was quote-unquote ‘negative,’ turned out to be a positive for me. I’m very grateful for it all because it made me a better person. Everything bad that happened to me, I’m grateful for.”
In the interview, Kid Dynamite also opened up about several other aspects of his life beyond his past experiences, including how Cus D’Amato supported and protected him. He also talked about growing up with little money, struggling with low self-esteem, and several other experiences from his life.
Regarding Mike Tyson’s scandal-plagued past, the former boxer has faced several legal issues throughout his life. In 1992, a court sentenced him to six years in prison. In 1997, he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear, which led to a $3 million fine and his immediate disqualification from the fight. The 60-year-old also faced domestic violence allegations in 1988–89, a DUI arrest, bankruptcy and several other legal and personal issues.
