New set videos from Grown Ups 3 reveal Adam Sandler and Kevin James reuniting on location in Europe. The footage, shared on social media, shows the cast filming in Turin, Italy. This marks the first time the franchise has shot outside the United States.
Notably, the production broke a 16-year tradition by moving overseas. Previous installments filmed entirely on American soil since the original debuted in 2010. However, shoots took place across New Jersey before the cast traveled to France and Italy for additional scenes.
Meanwhile, Netflix confirmed the threequel with a brief synopsis. It reads, “Now that their kids are all grown up, the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure.” Still, the streaming platform has kept most plot details under wraps so far.
The returning cast features Sandler, James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider. Additionally, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, and Salma Hayek Pinault also reprise their roles. Steve Buscemi, Shaquille O’Neal, and Colin Quinn round out the ensemble. Furthermore, Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, and Bailee Madison join the franchise as newcomers.
Kyle Newacheck, who directed Happy Gilmore 2, helms the sequel. Tim Herlihy co-wrote the script with Sandler after collaborating on Grown Ups 2 and Hubie Halloween. In addition, Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Jack Giarraputo, and Herlihy serve as producers on the project.
Overall, the franchise has earned over $519 million worldwide despite mixed critical reception. Production is scheduled to wrap its European shoot on October 14. Final scenes will then finish by October 28. No official release date exists yet, but a late 2027 window remains possible.
