Kate Middleton was “worried” she would hurt someone while on her recent visit to Scotland with Prince William. The couple visited the Isle of Bute in Scotland on September 17, marking their first visit there. They engaged with the locals and indulged in some fun activities as well. While playing shinty, an ancient Scottish game played with a ball and a stick, Middleton was concerned that she was “going to take someone’s teeth out.”
Kate Middleton’s shinty shot narrowly missed a bystander during her Scotland visit
Kate Middleton almost hit a bystander with her shinty shot during her recent trip to Scotland with her husband, Prince William. Scotland holds a special place in the couple’s heart as they met there as first-year college students at the University of St. Andrews in 2001. Notably, the couple is known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while they are in Scotland (via The Telegraph).
The Prince of Wales shared that he and his wife both played hockey while in college and had seen others play Shinty. However, the future king admitted that they never played the sport as it looked a “bit bruising.” The Princess of Wales agreed and expressed her desire to “give it a go,” noting it is “fantastic” for the community to enjoy a sport together.
William and Kate enjoyed a wholesome game of Shinty at the Bute Shinty Club. As per The Telegraph, at one point, the Princess of Wales almost hit a bystander while attempting to master the game. Middleton participated in a penalty shootout, practicing her perfect shot with the curved stick and a ball. While attempting to “master her swing,” on the third try, the ball flew past the goalpost and narrowly missed a bystander.
The future queen told bystander Andy McAlindon that she was “a bit worried, I was going to take someone’s teeth out.” McAlindon confirmed the incident, sharing, “I was standing by the goal as Her Royal Highness took her third shot, and she narrowly missed me. It was a great shot, and she said sorry.”
