Prince William and Kate Middleton might have troubling times ahead. In the previous month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK for an extended stay. Now, as per an expert, the Sussexes’ comeback is bad news for the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Expert says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s public presence could compete with Kate Middleton’s duties
According to royal expert Daniela Elser, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s UK comeback signals trouble for Prince William and Kate Middleton. “It does not appear the Sussexes have any plans to sit quietly in the shires to reclusively collect delphinium cuttings and rescue dogs,” she said.
The journalist continued, “For Kate, what are the chances of Harry and Meghan’s off-brand royalling not stealing all the available thunder?” She added the Princess of Wales’s “new working royal year is shaping up to be hell.” (via Cheat Sheet)
Royal expert Hugo Vickers also discussed how things get complicated after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s UK return. He told The Sun that if William does one thing and Harry does another, it is viewed as competition. It happens, “even if Prince Harry does not intend it to be.” Vickers described this as an “awful thing” that happens whenever Harry and Markle are back in England.
“Therefore, it becomes a distraction. I don’t quite know what they want to do, but presumably, they want to raise their profile,” he continued. The expert added, “If they intend to be public figures and carry out more of these appearances, they will inevitably be in competition with the royal family.” Thus, it effectively sets up an alternative court. “That is not a positive development,” Vickers explained.
Recently, Woman & Home‘s Duncan Larcombe reported that William and Middleton might meet with Harry soon. Larcombe’s source said that William is concerned about what Harry’s return to Britain will mean for the working royals. The source added that it might be “risky for them to just sit back and let Harry make the next move.”
