Her styling appeared to pay homage to Berry’s iconic 2002 “Die Another Day” premiere look. Berry quickly responded online, with the tribute carrying even more meaning given her previous praise for Zendaya’s influence in Hollywood.

As per a report from PEOPLE, the tribute took place one night earlier, when Zendaya attended the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards in a custom silver sequin Prada gown. Her stylist, Law Roach, confirmed that Halle Berry’s iconic style inspired the 2026 Emmys look.
Berry later reposted side-by-side photos of the two actresses on her Instagram Stories, adding an animated heart while tagging Roach and Zendaya. She subsequently shared Roach’s interview confirming the fashion reference.
The visual connection went beyond the gown. Zendaya’s look featured sheer white detailing and a short train, which she paired with Mikimoto jewelry and a Rolex watch. Her new pixie cut further echoed Berry’s cropped hairstyle from 2002. Hairstylist Coree Moreno described Zendaya’s hairstyle as “a classic pixie reimagined” with a modern approach.
Berry’s original look, meanwhile, featured a shimmering Collette Dinnigan minidress that she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of “Die Another Day.” Berry’s reaction made her approval especially clear. After reposting the tribute, she wrote, “She murdered the night.”
She also shared an older clip from The Drew Barrymore Show, in which Berry said she would like to play Zendaya’s mother someday. Berry had also praised Zendaya years earlier during a 2021 Sundance Film Festival panel, calling her a “walking embodiment” of progress for Black women in Hollywood.
She also described Zendaya as “proof positive that things are changing.” The 2026 Emmys tribute thus added another chapter to the admiration Berry has publicly expressed for Zendaya over the years.
