Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s UK Return Delivers a Breakthrough in Security Fight — Report

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making headlines following their UK return. There have been reports concerning the Sussexes’ security during their stay. As per a report, they will receive a risk assessment from RAVEC.

Prince and Meghan will receive her first government-backed security review since stepping down in 2020

According to The Telegraph, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will get their first government-backed security review from RAVEC. It is the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, an independent body in the UK that oversees taxpayer-funded police protection.

They reportedly informed the Duke of Sussex last week that he and Markle will receive separate risk assessments after their move. Moreover, the committee asked the couple to provide their schedules.

This included daily routines like bringing their kids to school, so that a decision can be reached. This marks the first official risk assessment for Markle since she lost her police protection after she and Harry decided to step back from royal duties.

On the other hand, Harry was reportedly granted a Risk Management Board (RMB) analysis in July. Following the Sussexes’ comeback to Britain, they got an interim security provision.

King Charles’s letter clarifying the Sussexes’ status as non-working royals also addressed their security. “Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace,” it read.

The circular continued, “Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant Police authorities.”

Previously, Former royal protection chief Dai Davies commented on Harry’s risk assessment needing review. “The whole risk assessment will have to be reviewed,” he told The Mirror. Davies added, “I wonder, given the short notice, has anybody worked it out for them? Because even me, who has been very opposed to him getting protection as a non-royal, now I think the whole scenario is changing.”

Moreover, he noted that the Sussexes’ new protection might be expensive. “It’s going to cost a huge amount,” the ex-royal protection officer said.
