Donald Trump Shares Multiple Posts Revisiting His Presence at Ground Zero After 9/11

President Donald Trump has pushed back against critics questioning his accounts of being near Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks. He posted a series of videos, photos, and statements on Truth Social to defend his version of events.

Donald Trump has responded with a lengthy tirade after facing criticism over his remarks about the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. During a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary on Tuesday, he said, “The United States Steel Building was creaking, really creaking, and we thought it was going to fall down.” He went on to describe being rescued by firefighters from a building located just yards from the Twin Towers. However, he did not clarify when the alleged incident took place.

Later Tuesday evening, Trump posted a 476-word message on Truth Social insisting he had been at the World Trade Center. Though, he again did not specify the timing. He followed this with a series of photos and videos linking him to the aftermath of the attacks.

“Well, I don’t think I would be the first thing on anyone’s mind but, I was there, obviously not on the same day as the collapse, but shortly thereafter, with a large group of Construction Workers,” Trump wrote. “Everything I said was exactly accurate.”

Among the material he shared was a video from a September 13, 2001, interview in which he told reporters he had just returned from Ground Zero and called it “a disaster.” He captioned the post, “I was there as soon as the Law allowed.”

Trump also shared a photo of himself outside the New York Stock Exchange, taken on September 18, 2001, along with a separate video interview with a German broadcaster from September 13, where he said, “I’ve never seen anything like it—the devastation, the human life that’s been just wasted for no reason whatsoever. It is a terrible scene. It’s a terrible sight.”

Now, Trump has not confirmed plans to attend Thursday’s 9/11 commemoration in New York.
