The experience came as Lopez was dealing with divorce, thinking about her children, and reflecting on her relationship with her dad. Watching one movie with her father helped change her perspective.

Jennifer Lopez, 57, opened up about the experience while speaking with her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein on his Films to Be Buried With podcast. She became emotional as she explained how watching I’m Still Here with her father, David Lopez, changed the way she viewed her life.
The Brazilian drama stars Fernanda Torres as Eunice Paiva, whose husband, politician Rubens Paiva, disappears during Brazil’s military dictatorship. For Jennifer, the movie carried a deeper meaning. She explained that she became sick around Christmas. Her family gathered, including her parents and cousin. Although her father rarely sat down to watch movies, he joined her for the film.
The timing of the movie night made the experience even more emotional. Jennifer was going through a divorce and thinking about her children when she watched the film with David. She shares 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her former husband Marc Anthony. As the movie played, Jennifer said something suddenly clicked in her mind. She began thinking about her children, her own experiences, and her relationship with her father, as Radar Online reported.
She recalled trying to cry quietly so her family would not notice. But the tears kept coming, and her father eventually turned toward her and realized she was upset. David then asked her what was wrong. Lopez remembered telling her father, “Dads are so important.” David responded by coming closer, holding her face and reassuring her that he loves her and always will.
“And that kind of changed my life at that moment,” she said. Jennifer shared that the experience helped heal a part of her that still needed attention. It also helped her move forward from that stage of her life and from the kinds of relationships she had experienced.
