Jacob Elordi is reportedly among the favorites to play James Bond, one of Hollywood’s most coveted roles. However, insiders say his high-profile romance with Kendall Jenner could be working against him. With no confirmation about who will don the tuxedo as cinema’s most famous spy, sources close to the situation claim that the Jenner-Elordi romance could complicate matters.
Kendall Jenner romance affecting Jacob Elordi’s potential career move, per source
Jacob Elordi has been widely floated as one of the contenders for the role of James Bond, with Denis Villeneuve set to direct the upcoming film. However, a Hollywood insider claims that the actor’s relationship with Jenner may not align with the image the franchise is looking to project, per Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice newsletter.
“Bond is supposed to be mysterious, dangerous, and untouchable. Nothing kills mystery faster than entering the Kardashian universe,” the source says. While visibility might normally work in an actor’s favor, the romance between Elordi, 29, and Jenner, 30, could work against the “cool” factor the role demands.
The source also pointed to the lukewarm reception of Elordi’s most recent film. The Australian actor starred in Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars.” The film garnered disappointing reviews, which could complicate his candidacy for the role of Bond.
Still, the insider notes that public attention is not automatically bad for the “Frankenstein” actor. Overall, it could be a boost for his career, just not for this particular role. According to the source, “Every photograph with Kendall makes Jacob more famous, but Bond doesn’t need famous — Bond needs cool.”
Kris Jenner’s role adds another layer to the situation. Describing her as the “ultimate Hollywood fixer,” Shuter highlights her close relationship with Lauren Sanchez, wife of Jeff Bezos. With Amazon MGM Studios producing the latest James Bond movie, this connection could be valuable. Per the insider, Kris Jenner is well aware of the connection’s potential value: “She doesn’t need to demand anything. Kris works through relationships, dinners, introductions and whispers.”
Whether the romance with Kendall Jenner ultimately helps or hinders Elordi’s Bond prospects remains to be seen. If, however, Elordi does get the role, “don’t be surprised if Kris somehow ends up taking the victory lap,” says the insider.
