Lesley Manville is on the run in the new trailer for Winter of the Crow. The upcoming thriller takes place in Warsaw in December 1981. It follows British psychiatry professor Dr. Joan Andrews as she travels to Warsaw for a university lecture.
Her visit takes a dark turn when Poland enters Martial Law. She witnesses a murder by the secret police and becomes a target herself. Directed by Kasia Adamik, the film is based on a short story by Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk. Cohen Media Group will release the film in theaters on October 9, 2026.

What is happening in Winter of the Crow’s trailer?
The trailer begins with Joan arriving in Warsaw for her lecture. She soon finds herself caught in a tense situation as the country comes under military control. The streets fill with soldiers as the political situation grows increasingly unstable.
Things become more dangerous after Joan witnesses a murder committed by the secret police. She realizes that staying in Warsaw has made her a target. Joan then tries to escape the country before the authorities can find her.
Her Polaroid camera becomes an important part of the story. It contains evidence of the crime she witnessed, giving the authorities another reason to track her down. She is forced to keep moving as she searches for a way to leave Poland.
The trailer follows Joan as she attempts to escape the country. She moves through the cold and snow while trying to escape the authorities. Her escape becomes a tense cat-and-mouse game as she searches for help in a city under strict control.
Winter of the Crow also stars Tom Burke, Andrzej Konopka, Sascha Ley, and Zofia Wichłacz. Adamik directed the film from a screenplay written by Sandra Buchta. The film adapts Tokarczuk’s short story “Professor Andrews Goes to Warsaw.” It is produced by Olga Chajdas, Katarzyna Ozga, Stanisław Dziedzic, Nicolas Steil, and Samantha Taylor.
