Donald Trump’s gold Cisco phone has people talking
Two new phones on Donald Trump’s Resolute Desk have become an unexpected White House talking point. The Cisco devices stand out for their lavish gold finish and presidential branding, giving an already heavily decorated Oval Office another eye-catching addition. Trump himself seemed delighted when Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy brought them up during a White House event Wednesday.
Doocy noticed the pair and asked Trump whether they were new. The president confirmed they were, then proudly explained that a “phone company” had given them to him. Trump proceeded to show them off to Doocy and travel executives attending an event focused on summer tourism.
A photograph captured by Doocy and shared on social media by CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins offered a closer look. The phones feature gold-colored trim, a presidential seal on the keypad, a White House silhouette and lettering identifying Trump as “The President.” They also carry “45” and “47,” referencing his two presidential terms. The phones also match the gold-heavy decor Trump has added to the Oval Office since returning to office.
The phones quickly became fodder for critics online. Pennsylvania media strategist J.J. Abbott argued on X that Americans struggling with gas prices were effectively watching the president receive an extravagant phone. Another X user labeled the display “peak sycophancy.”
Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, 61, ranks among highly compensated corporate leaders. Benzinga estimated his net worth at $367 million, while Quiver Quantitative reported that he received roughly $52.8 million in compensation during 2025.
