Donald Trump’s Iran comments come as US weighs pressure and negotiations
Donald Trump recently made a post on his Truth Social platform and urged Iranians to fight their government as the US and Iran war continues. He also claimed he is not forcing Iran to do anything.
The comments drop amid the new wave of strikes the US military has unleashed on Iran after the failure of peace talks.
In his post, Trump called out ABC News and stated, “I’m not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported. I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement.” He claimed the United States is in a much better position than Iran, and he likes it that way.
Trump added that the US now has “almost total control of the Hormuz Strait.” Moreover, he suggested that Iran is facing severe economic difficulties after going to war with the US. He concluded the post by sending a message to the people of Iran and wrote, “They (Iran) are just playing out the inevitable. When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?”
As the US military attacks have intensified over the past month, sources recently told Reuters that the White House wants to keep pressure on Iran. Still, the Trump administration’s main target is the midterm elections. A White House official told the outlet, “We are keeping the pressure on Iran. But November is a priority.”
