Brad Pitt has revived a financial discovery battle with Angelina Jolie as their long-running fight over Château Miraval moves through another legal chapter. His attorneys want records from several years after the couple separated. They argue the documents could shed light on Jolie’s decision to exit their French wine business.

At the center of the latest filing are Angelina Jolie’s finances from 2017 through 2019. Brad Pitt’s legal team says Jolie’s representatives previously agreed to provide broader information covering 2017-21, then changed course Feb. 23. As per Radar Online, her side later supplied tax documents and profit-participation statements for 2020 and 2021, according to the filing.
Pitt’s legal team later floated a way to narrow the fight without forcing Jolie to turn over the older financial documents. Their proposal would have required Jolie to confirm that she had not faced “economic pressure” before 2020 and that Pitt had not engaged in “economic coercion” against her from 2017 through 2019. Jolie did not agree to those terms, however.
Jolie’s side has pushed back on the idea that her finances ever justified Pitt’s requests. Her attorneys argue that she did not claim to be struggling financially and that the real goal was to separate her money and business interests from Pitt as their marriage came apart. Pitt’s lawyers have also pursued information about her earnings from films, endorsements and other sources of income after the couple separated in 2016.
At the heart of the broader legal fight is the former couple’s French winery, Château Miraval. Jolie sold her interest in the property through her company, Nouvel, to Tenute del Mondo for $67 million in October 2021. Pitt filed suit the following year, arguing that they had agreed that neither could sell their stake without the other’s consent. Jolie has rejected that interpretation.
The former couple finalized their divorce in December 2024, but their winery battle continues. Jolie has maintained that negotiations for Pitt to purchase her stake collapsed over a proposed nondisclosure agreement.
