Daveigh Chase‘s former business manager is objecting to her mother’s bid to take control of the late actor’s estate. The late Lilo & Stitch star’s mother is facing an objection from Daveigh’s former business manager over control of the $400,000 estate.
According to reports from TMZ, John Ryan has filed an objection in court after Daveigh’s mother, Cathy Chase, sought to become the administrator of the luxury estate. This comes after the actor’s father, John Schwallier, requested that a judge appoint a third-party administrator to look after the estate. Chase’s father had also stated that she was estranged from her mother
Ryan agreed with Schwallier that a third-party administrator should oversee the estate. Cathy Chase filed her petition to become administrator in July. Both John Ryan and Daveigh’s father subsequently objected to her petition.

Former manager details Daveigh Chase’s alleged estrangement from her mother
TMZ’s report also detailed Ryan’s claims about Daveigh’s estrangement from her parents. He said in his legal filing, “Daveigh was estranged from her father when her parents divorced.” Daveigh’s former business manager then claimed that she had told him “that in the mid-2000s she filed for legal emancipation from her mother.”
Ryan further pointed out how the American actress has detailed her reasons for such drastic steps. “She believed that her mother was taking advantage of [her] finances and putting [her] physical and mental well-being at risk,” claimed John Ryan.
The latest claims from Daveigh Chase’s former manager add another layer to the estate dispute. Earlier, Schwallier nominated licensed professional fiduciary Megan Boiling to oversee the estate. The court has not yet ruled on who will be appointed as administrator.
Daveigh’s estate became the focus of the dispute following the Donnie Darko star’s death at age 35. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s findings, her primary cause of death was acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
