An upcoming movie is reportedly revisiting the scandal with a renewed focus on the banished royal’s role. Prior to this, the 2024 Netflix drama Scoop and Prime Video’s A Very Royal Scandal dramatized his infamous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, while Peacock’s Prince Andrew: Banished examined his fall from grace.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s controversies may be set for a small-screen revival. The production company has reportedly approached the former prince’s legal team ahead of a potential release before year-end.
The upcoming film, titled The Janitor, features Peaky Blinders star Harry Kirton in the role of a publicist tasked with managing scandals for high-profile elite figures. According to The Mirror, one sequence in the film depicts events linked to Andrew’s public downfall in the wake of his past association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
As per the outlet, a fictional scene in the film depicts a reporter showing the former Duke of York the photo of him alongside Virginia Giuffre. She alleged that he had sex with her when she was 17 under coercion.
Andrew was arrested and questioned earlier this year over alleged misconduct and remains under investigation. However, King Charles‘ younger brother has consistently denied any wrongdoing and rejected all accusations made against him.
The production team has not yet revealed who will play the disgraced royal. According to the Daily Mail, the film’s producers also reached out to the ex-prince’s legal team. They offered him a chance to share his perspective before finalizing the script. Reports, however, indicate that Andrew has not responded to the producers and has offered no comment.
A production insider revealed that the legal team has “bullet-proofed every single frame.” The team also stands ready for backlash once the film hits screens. The Janitor has not announced an official release date yet.
