Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported UK return may come with a unique challenge, as per the latest royal family news. As per various media reports, the Sussexes are returning to the UK by the end of the month. However, Harry and Meghan will seemingly not join the royals at family gatherings. Previously, the couple stepped down as working royals in January 2020 and relocated to the U.S.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans following UK return might face a challenge
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly not be invited to royal family gatherings and events amid their rumored return to the UK. As per a new report by The Telegraph, the Sussexes will not be “automatically included” in royal family outings and events. This also includes celebrating summer holidays at Balmoral in Scotland and Christmas at Sandringham.
This can only happen if they receive a personal invitation from King Charles himself. A source chimed in, stating that it is “way too early” to confirm whether Harry and Meghan would be included in any public family gatherings in the UK. The Sussexes will not be attending any official events for the time being.
As per a report by PEOPLE, the Sussexes will reside in a private, non-royal residence. They will retain their homes in California and Portugal. Meanwhile, their children, Archie and Lilibet, are enrolled in a British school and will begin their term in September.
Information regarding their new home and children’s school has been kept confidential. King Charles was “made aware of the couple’s plans” on Sunday, August 16. He is reportedly “naturally pleased” at the prospect of seeing his younger son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren more often now. The king looks forward to meeting the Sussexes “in a private and personal capacity” while following his official responsibilities as the monarch (via The Times).
However, the king has made it clear that there will be no change to Harry and Meghan’s status. They will remain private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.
