Peter Berg‘s latest movie has received its first look along with a confirmed release date. The upcoming movie is based on a true World War II story.
According to an exclusive report from Variety, Berg’s new movie, The Mosquito Bowl, is set to begin its theatrical run in the U.S. on October 30, 2026. The update also notes that the movie will be available in select AMC theaters alongside additional locations across the country.
Berg’s new World War II movie will mark one of the first partnerships between AMC and Netflix, following their successful collaboration on K-pop Demon Hunters. After concluding its theatrical run, The Mosquito Bowl will be available for streaming on Netflix beginning Nov. 25, 2026.
The movie is based on and adapted from Pulitzer Prize winner Buzz Bissinger’s bestselling book, The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II. The plot of the movie centers around four talented young football players from the United States. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, all four of them decide to give up their football dreams and enlist in the Marines to serve their country. Ahead of the invasion of Okinawa, the quartet appears in a football game, knowing that it might be the last game of their lives.
