One of the Most Mature Pixar Movies With Jamie Foxx Finds New Streaming Home

The upcoming content shake-up in Hulu’s library will not only see the departure of a host of fan-favorite titles but will also mark the arrival of several iconic comedies and multiple animated classics. Among the movies coming to the popular streaming platform is a Pixar film featuring the voice talent of Jamie Foxx that addresses some of the most mature themes of any of the studio’s features.

Soul will also stream on Hulu next month

Pixar’s Soul, helmed by Pete Docter, has finally found a new digital home as the fan-favorite animated film will soon begin streaming on Hulu. According to a press schedule released by the Disney-owned service, subscribers will be able to stream the Oscar-winning movie starting September 1, 2026.

The 101-minute feature revolves around the journey of a middle-school teacher named Joe Gardner, voiced by Foxx, who has always been passionate about jazz. Despite being extremely proficient in his art, Joe’s life trajectory doesn’t allow him to stay close to music. However, when he inadvertently ends up in an otherworldly realm to help a soul find their passion, Joe comes to reflect on his own life and goals.

Led by Foxx, the film’s star-studded voice cast of Pixar’s Soul also includes Tina Fey, Graham Norton, Rachel House, Alice Braga, Richard Ayoade, Phylicia Rashad, Donnell Rawlings, Questlove, and Angela Bassett, among others.

The Pixar feature garnered extremely positive reviews upon its premiere in 2020, impressing both critics and audiences. Soul even made waves at the 93rd Academy Awards, securing the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score from three nominations. However, the movie did not have the opportunity to earn much at the box office, as it came out directly on Disney+ due to COVID-19 restrictions. A later wide release gave fans a chance to see it in theaters, and it earned just shy of $122 million globally, as per Box Office Mojo, with almost all of its sales coming from the international market.
