The Power universe is keeping one of its familiar faces in play as its next chapter looks to the past. A character left behind after Raising Kanan now has another story to tell, with the upcoming prequel reconnecting her to one of the franchise’s most important young players.
Leslie Grossman’s Flossie set to return after Power Book III: Raising Kanan finale
The returning character is Florence “Flossie” Siegel, played by Leslie Grossman, whose final Raising Kanan appearance left her closely tied to Jukebox. After Marvin’s death at Kanan’s hands, his daughter received both cash and a message from her father. That note pointed her toward Flossie as the one person she could rely on. This gave the character an interesting connection to Jukebox’s future.
That thread now carries into Power: Origins, where Flossie will have a recurring presence. The new series shifts the clock backward to follow younger versions of Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan as they chase influence and opportunity across New York. Starz describes the project as a lively look at an earlier era, centered on three ambitious figures trying to build reputations on the streets. As per Starz, Power: Origins will “highlight the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game.”
The series also marks another expansion for the franchise. Origins becomes the fourth Power spinoff, following Ghost, Raising Kanan, and Force. Starz has also ordered Power: Legacy, which will continue the universe in its present-day timeline after Force. Season 1 of Origins has already wrapped filming in New York and New Jersey (via Deadline).
Behind the camera, Courtney A. Kemp and Sascha Penn created the prequel, with Penn attached to the project as showrunner and executive producer. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Mark Canton lead the executive-producing team alongside Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon. Lionsgate Television handles production for Starz.
Leslie Grossman will also appear in the 13th season of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. Her television résumé includes Popular, What I Like About You, The Goldbergs, Love, Victor, Goliath, Black-ish, and Dexter.
