Anne Hathaway & Jeremy Strong’s Underrated Movie Arrives on Netflix Today

An underrated coming-of-age movie featuring Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong is now available on Netflix. Written and directed by James Gray, the film failed at the box office but earned high praise from the critics.

Armageddon Time is now streaming on Netflix beginning today, Aug. 18, 2026. The period drama was originally released in 2022. The official synopsis of the film reads, “A Jewish boy’s friendship with his Black classmate reveals sobering truths about race and privilege in this coming-of-age tale set in 1980 New York City.”

Upon its theatrical release, Armageddon Time failed to create any impact at the box office. It made just over $6.5 million worldwide against a $15 million budget. However, the film received solid critical acclaim and currently holds a 76% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

What other movies are Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong known for?

Hathaway is best known for her role in 2001’s comedy drama The Princess Diaries, in which she played Mia Thermopolis. The actress has also earned critical acclaim throughout her career for performances in movies such as Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises, and Les Misérables, for which she even won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

The 43-year-old actress was most recently seen in the highly admired box office hit The Odyssey. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan, the epic adventure featured Hathaway as Penelope, the wife of Odysseus and Queen of Ithaca. It currently holds a 94% Tomatometer and a 97% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie has grossed more than $1.29 billion worldwide since its July release.

Hathaway also starred in another hit movie this year, The Devil Wears Prada 2. She reprised her iconic role of Andrea Sachs in the sequel to 2006’s film.

As for Jeremy Strong, he is best known for 2024’s The Apprentice, alongside Sebastian Stan, in which he played Roy Cohn. The actor has also earned huge acclaim for other projects including The Big Short, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and The Gentlemen, among others.

Strong recently appeared in the 2025 biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. He played Jon Landau alongside Jeremy Allen White, who played musician Bruce Springsteen. Next up, he will be seen in The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to 2010’s The Social Network. He will portray Mark Zuckerberg in the film. The film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 9, 2026.
