Princess Eugenie has revealed that her daughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, was named in honor of three people she and her family love and admire, including her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
She took to Instagram to share the happy news, writing, “2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we’ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time. We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.”
The 36-year-old added, “Named after three people we love and admire, past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.”
She also mentioned that her sons, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, “are already the best big brothers.” The royal shared a carousel of heartwarming photos showing the newborn’s face, giving fans a glimpse of the latest addition to the family.
In the third picture, August and Ernest can be seen playing with their baby sister and a plushie, while another photo shows the newborn holding their hands, making for an especially touching moment. Eugenie’s decision to honor the late Queen Elizabeth through her daughter’s name reflects the close bond they shared.
Following the Queen’s death at age 96 in 2022, Eugenie also paid a heartfelt tribute to her grandmother. She shared a photo with her “dearest Grannie” alongside her sister, Princess Beatrice.
“We’ve not been able to put much into words since you left us all,” Eugenie wrote in a detailed note. She continued, “There have been tears and laughter, silences and chatter, hugs and loneliness, and a collective loss for you, our beloved Queen and our beloved Grannie.”
Eugenie also reflected on the lasting impact her grandmother had on their lives, writing, “You were our matriarch, our guide, our loving hand on our backs, leading us through this world. You taught us so much, and we will cherish those lessons and memories forever.”
