An expert claims that Prince William’s focus on his family, particularly Kate Middleton, has left Prince Harry increasingly on the periphery. The comments come amid continued speculation surrounding tensions within the royal family.
The brothers’ relationship reportedly became strained after Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and subsequently made a series of explosive claims about the monarchy and their experiences as working royals.
Expert says Prince William’s priorities lies with his family
Sources close to Prince William have reportedly said that the future king remains focused on his wife, Kate Middleton, and their children. Amid ongoing speculation about his relationship with Prince Harry, royal expert Phil Dampier offered his assessment of the brothers’ strained bond.
In remarks reported by the Daily Mail, Dampier stated, “William and Harry put aside their differences for the unveiling of the statue of their mother Princess Diana [five years ago], but things are much worse now.”
According to Dampier, Prince William would find it difficult to reconcile with his brother, even in tribute to Princess Diana. With her 30th death anniversary next year, they could use it to heal and be seen together. But he feels that the Prince of Wales doesn’t have the desire to do so, per The News International.
Quoting sources close to the Prince of Wales, the royal expert stated that they told him, “as far as he is concerned, Harry is the past, and he is only concerned about the future for his wife Catherine and their children George, Charlotte and Louis.”
The royal expert went on to say William will “never forgive” Harry, not only for stepping back from royal duties but also “for the dirt he dished out in his book Spare, the Netflix show, and the Oprah Winfrey interview.”
“It led to Catherine being smeared as a racist, and he will never forget that,” noted Dampier. The comment refers to Meghan Markle’s 2021 sit-down with Oprah Winfrey. During their interview, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed that an unnamed member of the royal family had expressed concerns about the potential skin color of their son, Archie, before his birth.
The revelation sparked widespread controversy, particularly after Meghan and Harry declined to identify the royal involved.
However, Dutch-language editions of Omid Scobie’s 2023 book “Endgame” later appeared to name King Charles and Kate Middleton as the royals allegedly involved in the conversations. The revelation triggered public backlash and accusations surrounding the royal family’s treatment of Meghan and Harry.
