Royal expert Richard Eden believes Prince Harry should leave the Invictus Games as his family issues are overshadowing the notable cause. On the latest episode of Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, Eden discussed the issue with his colleague.
He alleged that Prince Harry is using “public pressure” to persuade King Charles to attend next year’s Invictus Games. Eden also claimed that Harry’s team planted the stories to paint a more favorable narrative. He is trying to coax his father into attending the event to publicly reconcile with the royal family.
Furthermore, the expert pointed out that the messy royal family drama news was taking away from the main cause. Hence, Prince Harry should consider moving away from the Invictus Games. The royal expert believes the “pressure” invariably falls on the King, as evidenced by the Sussexes’ latest private visit. Eden argued that it is not fair on the ageing monarchs.
He said, “It all seems like public pressure, and it’s really not the way the royal family has traditionally operated. You would expect an invitation like this to go out behind the scenes, and that it all would be done in private. This kind of public pressure is awful, really.”
Moreover, Eden urged the Duke of Sussex to distance himself from the initiative amid the royal family drama. He stated, “Personally, I would like to see Harry step down from it, to distance himself from Invictus. It would get rid of that controversial element, and the Games would prosper as a result.”
