Steel City Con in Pennsylvania announced on Facebook on August 8 that the 69-year-old actor had abruptly left due to what organizers described as a “personal issue.” His scheduled photo opportunities were cancelled with little initial explanation.
TMZ later confirmed that Christopher Lambert had a medical emergency. An eyewitness told the outlet the actor collapsed suddenly at the venue. Paramedics transported him from the convention to a local Pittsburgh hospital by ambulance.
By August 9, convention officials confirmed Lambert’s condition had improved. Steel City Con told People in a statement that the actor would return that day at 11:30 a.m. local time for photo ops and a panel. “Christopher was feeling a little overheated and dehydrated. He had to sit down, but he is doing great today,” organizers said.
This health episode follows another accident the previous year. Lambert cancelled a scheduled appearance at SciFi World in Sweden in March 2025 after he fell down a hotel staircase. That fall caused a back injury, TMZ reported at the time. His representative issued a statement to Nine.com.au, expressing regret that Lambert could not attend, while emphasizing that filming and promoting his films remained his absolute priority.
Fans know Christopher Lambert best for wielding a katana as Connor MacLeod in Highlander. He also played Tarzan in 1984’s Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes and portrayed Lord Raiden in the 1995 live-action Mortal Kombat film. Despite the scare, his upcoming schedule remains intact. He still plans to appear at Fan Expo Chicago and Mad Monster Expo in North Carolina later this month.
