Marvel may be working on another Disney+ Special Presentation. According to a new industry rumor, the project is reportedly set to begin filming in February 2027, although the studio has not officially confirmed it.
Insider Jeff Sneider shared the update on The Hot Mic podcast. He said, “I’d heard that it was like the code name was like the Ahmmed Stone or the Ammit Stone.”
Sneider continued, “I’d heard that with the special presentations. I heard two different things. I don’t know if there’re two different special presentations or what. One was that they were considering doing a spy show.”
Another insider, James Mack, previously claimed Marvel has two Special Presentations in development for 2027. If the rumors are true, the codename could refer to Ammit, the Egyptian goddess featured in Moon Knight. The 2022 Marvel miniseries has not yet been renewed for a sequel despite the strong reception for its writing and Oscar Isaac’s performance. However, for now, these remain speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Conflicting reports leave the project’s genre unclear
Sneider said he had heard different descriptions of the rumored project. One report suggested it was a spy story, while another pointed to a crime mystery inspired by True Detective. He said he believes the second idea is more likely.
The journalist said, “I think that they’re working on a True Detective-type of show, like Lanterns in a way, almost. Where it’s going to be somebody investigating crimes within the MCU, and I think that’ll allow them to move characters, have characters come and go freely and kind of hop in and out.”
“So, I don’t know what characters would be involved in that. I don’t know if there’s a Marvel organization or something. But look for something like that to be announced in the coming months. Something True Detective-stylish,” Sneider concluded.
Sneider also said the project could follow a procedural format, with different Marvel heroes and villains appearing in separate cases.
Marvel has recently reduced its live-action Disney+ output as it shifts its focus toward fewer television projects and more theatrical releases. For now, the reported filming schedule, story, and release plans remain unconfirmed.
