Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s highly anticipated wedding got an unusual title from a veteran NBA star. Charles Barkley had an invitation to one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year but chose not to go. The NBA legend recently revealed why he skipped Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding, joking that the event would have been a “zoo.”

Despite his close friendship with Travis and Jason Kelce, Barkley said he politely turned down the invitation because he has a long standing rule against attending weddings.
Speaking on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take“, Barkley made it clear that his decision had nothing to do with the newlyweds.
“I don’t go to weddings,” he said.
“I love Travis. Him and Jason are great friends of mine. I got a lot of love and respect. I’ve only met Taylor one time, she’s an awesome person from a distance, and I’m happy for them.”
Even so, Barkley admitted he had no plans to change his mind.”But I’m like, ‘Nah, I’m gonna politely decline,'” he said.
He then joked about the scale of the event.”Because I love both of those guys, Jason and Travis, a lot. I got a lotta love and respect for them, but like, nah, I’m not going to that zoo.”
Host Dan Katz, better known as Big Cat, asked why Barkley avoids weddings altogether. The Hall of Famer explained that he never wants to take attention away from the bride.
“That’s the bride’s special day, let her enjoy herself,” Barkley said. “It’s your special day.”
“I want her to have all the shine.”
Kelce and Swift’s July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden reportedly drew around 1,000 guests. The celebration featured a long list of famous faces from sports, music, film, and television. Even so, Barkley stayed home.
The basketball icon revealed that weddings are not the only events he usually skips. He also avoids funerals unless the person held a special place in his life.”If somebody is really special, I’ll make an exception,” Barkley explained. He added, “But I’m not going to somebody who is a casual friend of mine’s funeral.”
The NBA star continued, “They don’t know I’m there, they’re dead.”
Barkley added that he prefers remembering people as they were in life instead of seeing them one last time after they have passed away.
The basketball legend may have missed one of the most talked-about weddings in recent memory. Yet Barkley made it clear there were no hard feelings. He remains close friends with the Kelce brothers. He said he is genuinely happy for Travis and Taylor as they begin married life together.
