A royal commentator has slammed Meghan Markle for leveraging Prince Harry’s royal status to her benefit. The Duchess of Sussex made a special appearance on the July 26 episode of MasterChef Australia. At one point, Harry called her during the episode and even interacted with the contestants briefly via video call.

Sharon Williams, the founder and CEO of Taurus Marketing, shared her take on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s MasterChef call. As per News 24, she criticized the “Suits” alum, accusing her of leaning into her husband’s royal image to further her own career. Williams also described Harry’s FaceTime appearance on the show as “nauseating” and said that “there was no real surprise.” She further questioned why he needed to be a part of the segment at all.
The royal commentator then alleged that the duchess needs to bank on her husband’s royal status for her own agenda, saying, “She needs him to get her attention and she is using her Royal connection.” The pre-recorded scene has also left the audience divided over the internet, with a certain section of fans not pleased by the sweet moment between the Sussexes.
One fan commented, “So cringey and embarrassing. Acting was soooooo bad.” A second fan wrote, “Reminding everyone why we are subjected to her – that’s all. She would have faded into obscurity without Hapless Harry.” A third fan penned, “Staged BS that screams desperation. Where would Markle be without Harry? Irrelevant that’s why she needs to get him to make a cameo!” A fourth fan stated, “Everything she does is obviously contrived, staged and cringe worthy.”
Previously, there were rumors that Markle was “frustrated” at being referred to as royalty on the show. However, as per a new report by PEOPLE, the former actress preferred people call her by her name. Judge Poh Ling Yeow asked, “Do we call you Duchess?” To which, Markle replied: “Oh, call me Meghan.”
A source close to the actress dished to the outlet, “Meghan and the MasterChef judges had a great time on set together. They immediately had such a great rapport and had a really fun time working with the contestants and crew as well. Meghan left the set that day with such a positive experience. Any reporting otherwise is false.”
