Meghan Markle’s ‘Jarring’ Story About Kate Middleton Resurfaces — Report

Meghan Markle’s “jarring” account of meeting Kate Middleton resurfaced years after the Sussexes filmed their royal story. The Duchess of Sussex described the first dinner as an early clash between warmth and palace formality. The moment came back through “Harry & Meghan” and Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare.” It also set the stage for later claims about jokes, greetings, and the strained rhythm between Meghan and the Princess of Wales.

As per a HelloMagazine report, the comments came from Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan.” In the second episode, Meghan recalled meeting Kate for dinner. She said, “I remember I was in ripped jeans and barefoot.” Then, she added, “I was a hugger.” The duchess said she “didn’t realise” that approach was “jarring for a lot of Brits.” The report framed that dinner as an early sign of different expectations.

Meanwhile, the article revisited how the “Suits” alum later came to understand the formality of royal spaces. She said there was “a forward-facing way of being.” Behind closed doors, she expected people to say, “I can relax now.” However, she added that “formality carries over on both sides.” For context, HelloMagazine said the royal women were often reportedly at odds.

The report also noted Harry’s claim that William and Kate were major “Suits” fans. Harry also wrote that their reaction surprised him. He said their “mouths fell open” before William turned to Kate. The duke joked he had been worrying about the wrong thing. Instead of fearing rejection, he joked he now feared they might ask Meghan for an autograph because of the show.

Still, the report led to another awkward exchange. In “Spare,” Harry wrote that Kate asked Meghan about her first Trooping the Colour. Meghan answered, “Colourful.” Harry said the joke failed in the room. He wrote that “a yawning silence” followed the remark. Earlier in the memoir, Harry said William and Kate watched “Suits” religiously. For Meghan and Kate, the resurfaced account showed how private moments became public royal talking points.
